The plants we've recommended for you are generally trouble free. However, all plants are subject to various problems. An occasional walk through the landscape will help you know when these occur; the challenge will be to determine when problems are serious and require action.

Below is a list of questions we use at Bachman's to begin the search for a solution to any plant problem.

After answering the questions, you can:

  • Call our Horticulture staff for help with a problem. (612-861-7676)
  • Visit our store for help. Bring a sample of the insect or damage (use a bag or jar to keep moist), along with this completed form.
  • Use your resources to analyze the information collected on this list to arrive at a solution.

TWO THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

  1. Some damage, such as a small amount of insect chewing or a few fungus spots, is very normal and causes no lasting damage to the plant. Very frequent spraying would likely be needed to avoid all damage and Bachman's does not recommend that level of chemical use.
  2. We find more plants fail in our landscape due to improper watering than any other factor including disease or insects.
